Intermediate Level 2

The course covers the understanding and application of the following:

  • Health & Safety legislation
  • Efficient working practices
  • Bench Joinery
  • Manufacture, mark out and produce of products such as doors, staircases, cupboards etc.
  • Moving and handling resources
  • Set up and use circular saw
  • Site Carpentry
  • Fitting door and window frames
  • Door linings
  • Floor joist covering
  • Partitions and plasterboard
  • Door and window ironmongery
  • Use of hand and machine tools

Course Content:

  • Level 2
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1
  • End point assessment. This comprises of a written test and a practical skills test.

Length of Programme:

  • 18 months

Advanced Level 3

The course covers the understanding and application of the following:

  • Health & Safety legislation
  • Efficient working practices
  • Bench Joinery
  • Work activities and resources in the workplace
  • Set up and use fixed or transportable woodworking machinery.
  • Produce complex shaped bespoke products
  • Site Carpentry
  • Fitting and forming joints
  • Working at heights using access equipment
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Structural timbers (joists/rafters)
  • Machine timbers to size and shape

Course Content:

  • Level 3
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2
  • End point assessment. This comprises of a written test and a practical skills test.

Length of Programmes:

  • 15 months
