INTERMEDIATE APPRENTICESHIP IN WOOD OCCUPATIONS (CONSTRUCTION) BENCH JOINERY/SITE CARPENTRY

The course covers the understanding and application of the following:

  • Health & Safety legislation
  • Efficient working practices
  • Bench Joinery
  • Manufacture, mark out and produce products such as doors, staircases, cupboards etc.
  • Moving and handling resources
  • Set up and use circular saw
  • Site Carpentry
  • Fitting door and window frames
  • Door linings
  • Floor joist covering
  • Partitions and plasterboard
  • Door and window ironmongery
  • Use of hand and machine tools

The course contains a high level of practical work and it is important that strict safety rules and regulations are observed at all times.

Course Content

  • Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) – Bench Joinery or Site Carpentry
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP IN WOOD OCCUPATIONS (CONSTRUCTION) BENCH JOINERY/SITE CARPENTRY

The course covers the understanding and application of the following:

  • Bench Joinery
  • Work activities and resources in the workplace
  • Set up and use fixed or transportable woodworking machinery.
  • Produce complex shaped bespoke products
  • Site Carpentry
  • Fitting and forming joints
  • >Working at heights using access equipment
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Structural timbers (joists/rafters)
  • Machine timbers to size and shape

The course contains a high level of practical work and it is important that strict safety rules and regulations are observed at all times.
